About Our Team

Marc Bartley

Marc Bartley or “Spud” is the owner of Spud, Inc. He is from Sumter, SC and holds two degrees from the University of South Carolina; one in finance and one in economics. Spud has been in the strength and training industry for over two decades. His journey began in weight lifting almost 40 years ago; this led him to powerlifting in 1998 where a career that spanned elite totals in 4 weight classes over 9 years evolved.

Spud is one of the premier 275-pound lifters in the world. At the 2005 Arnold Classic he squatted a huge 1058. His best lifts include a 1058 squat, 700 pound bench press and a 722 deadlift. His best total is 2463. His love of powerlifting, strength sports and helping people find their way, led to the founding of Spud Inc in 2002.

Since then, he has been an innovative part of the strength community where he incessantly creates products, ideas and methods to improve strength and athletic performance for all types of athletes – both professional and those just beginning their fitness journeys.

Amy Bernal

Amy Bernal (AIMZ) is the Nutrition Warehouse Manager. You can catch her working the front desk at Spud, Inc. gym. She is the youngest of 5 & she relocated from Reno, Nevada to Columbia, SC in October 2020. She currently has a personal training certification through ACE and enjoys training a variety of clients. She enjoys educating people on overall health and wellness as well as lifting heavy sh*t!

Amy is a dog momma of 2 beautiful pit bulls. Leo is 1 and Abel is 10. They are her rock through any and every situation life throws at her.Amy enjoys the little things in life by traveling and being a wanderer at heart. For her, there is nothing better than adventure, laughter, and tattoos!

Stephen

Stephen is the Manager for both Nutrition Warehouse locations & for the Spud, Inc. gym. Before starting at Spud, Inc. he worked in manufacturing for more than a decade & was also a personal trainer for several years.

Born and raised in South Carolina, Stephen has always had a passion for weightlifting and enjoys learning new training methods. He has used Spud Inc products for years and looks forward to helping others reach their goals using our products!

Ana Perez

Ana Perez is Spud Inc’s Wonder Web Woman and Social Media Manager. As a competitive world-class powerlifter with over 15 years of digital marketing experience, she’s worked with some of the biggest names in the strength community to help develop their brands. Ana once held a National deadlifting record at an impressive 507 lbs and her best total was 1157 lbs.

Ana is coached by Powerlifting legend, Steve Goggins – the first man in history to squat over 1100 lbs! Before powerlifting, Ana was a hot yoga practitioner, Muay Thai fighter, and cyclist.

Ana enjoys traveling, spending time with family, geeking out over new technology, and kicking back with the latest true crime documentary. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Forensics Management from Strayer University and is in the process of getting her MBA.
